CiD develops an interdisciplinary innovation ecosystem that integrates circular economy, bio-based innovation, and design education to accelerate climate-neutral urban development.

The CiD Continuous Education Programme (CEP) is an international lifelong learning initiative developed by CiD partners. Designed to keep professionals, students, and practitioners up to date with the latest developments in Circular Design, the programme combines innovative perspectives on Circular Economy, Urban Transformation, and Bio-Based Innovation. Through thematic workshops, online learning, company visits, and project-based activities delivered across six European locations, the CEP equips participants with practical knowledge, interdisciplinary skills, and real-world experience to support the transition towards more sustainable and circular practices.

The EU-funded project ACCORD develops a digital framework and tools to facilitate the building permit submission and approval, making the process more transparent, cost-effective and faster for all involved. The project team will integrate digital technical solutions using BIM to automate compliance checking of buildings in their design, construction and renovation/demolition lifecycle phases.

ACCORD provides free online content focused on digital building permits. The training materials consist of short, engaging videos (5-20 minutes), along with presentations and other supporting materials, that offer a comprehensive overview of ACCORD’s key results. The BIMzeED project aims to enhance the construction industry’s capacity by providing education and training focused on technical innovation and digitalisation, particularly in Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (nZEB). It develops and pilots 12 Learning Units as Open Educational Resources (OERs), designed for flexible delivery across Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers.

The BIMplement project aimed to enhance the quality of nearly Zero Energy Building (nZEB) construction and renovation by establishing large-scale Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and Building Information Modelling (BIM)-enhanced qualification schemes.

BIMplement organised two webinars. In the first one, “Are we ready for BIM in construction sites? A reality check: Experience from the ground”, you learn about the use and implementation of BIM on construction sites, especially in France, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands and Lithuania.

The second one, “How can BIMplement be implemented in other European countries?”, showcases all solutions developed by BIMplement partners and their potential application in other European countries.

RenoZEB is a Horizon 2020 project designed to unlock the nearly Zero Energy Building (nZEB) renovation market by increasing property value through a new systemic approach to retrofitting. The project focuses on developing cost-effective, prefabricated “plug-and-play” solutions for large-scale deep nZEB renovations.

The project sought to overcome barriers to deep renovation by providing occupants and building professionals with the right information and tools to make such renovations attractive, acceptable, and affordable, hence the name TripleA-reno. 

The TripleA-reno results have been rolled out on a wider European scale through the so-called ‘RoadShow’, a series of events around Europe organised by the involved European interest groups and umbrella associations. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the ‘RoadShow’ turned into a ‘HomeShow’, a series of interviews with the project partners explaining their role, results and expectations in the TripleA-reno project.

EUSEW 2019 – Bringing solutions Together

Five EU-funded projects ( TripleA­reno, iBROAD, HAPPEN, ALDREN, Fit­to­NZEB) collaborating on integrated tools and methods for deep retrofitting, looked at key challenges that need to be surpassed for a breakthrough in building energy improvement, proposed specific solutions, and highlighted some good reasons for optimism.

Introducing the Triple A Combined Labelling Scheme

The Combined Labelling Scheme has been developed by the Hungarian company Comfort Consulting as part of the H2020 TripleA-reno project. The labelling scheme can provide clear evidence-based data on energy performance, indoor environmental quality and well-being indicators. By using the combined labelling template, experts can, for instance, evaluate the energy performance and comfort of dwellings, identify if a building needs to be improved and what the necessary interventions are.

BIM-SPEED aims to advance BIM for the deep renovation of existing residential buildings, targeting at least 60% energy savings and faster project delivery. The project seeks to accelerate BIM adoption across the EU, enabling stakeholders to reduce renovation project durations by at least 30%.

DigiPLACE conducted a feasibility study for a European Industrial Digital Construction Platform, aiming to modernise the construction industry and strengthen its global competitiveness. The project focused on defining a Reference Architecture Framework (RAF) and strategic guidelines for the future platform, rather than developing the platform itself, which is intended to be implemented through a subsequent EU tender.

The webinar presented a European state-of-the-art analysis, examining how digitalised the construction industry already is, and which are the possible points of knowledge transfer. Furthermore, experts in the field of architecture and digitalisation highlighted the necessity of architects’ involvement in the 4.0 revolution.
